dBodhi is a brand synonymous with sustainability, quality, and exceptional design. With a strong appreciation for nature, it is the source of all creation and the origin of their inspiration. They create pieces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are also embedded with a deep commitment to environmental sustainability.

About the Brand
In 2007, Dutch entrepreneur Raymond Davids founded dBodhi as a response to the prevalent sleek, new-wood furniture trend of the era. Davids was compelled to create pieces that were not just unique, but also carried a narrative.
Based in Indonesia, Davids began creating tables and cabinets using reclaimed wood from centuries-old houses in remote East-Javanese villages. These pieces were crafted in accordance with ancient knowledge and Javanese traditions. Over time, this venture evolved into what dBodhi is today – a family-run furniture brand that cherishes nature and venerates ancient cultures. The brand uses artisanal craftsmanship as a means to pay tribute to both these aspects.
All dBodhi furniture is crafted in Indonesia, either in their Java studio or in one of the small-scale workshops they collaborate with.
Their collections are grounded in a single philosophy: honouring nature through the lens of genuine craftsmanship. Utilising reclaimed and organic materials, they adhere to age-old wisdom and Javanese traditions to create distinctive, high-quality pieces that tell a story. These are pieces of value, designed to stand the test of time.
Reclaimed & Organic Materials
Reclaimed teak is the cornerstone of dBodhi, gathering reclaimed teak from historical houses in secluded villages of East Java. This robust wood has been taken from mature trees that are over sixty years old. The procedure to repurpose the wood is a meticulous one – their artisans receive the wooden planks in various sizes and conditions, often with original nails and paint still attached. Each piece is individually hand-sorted, sanded, and reworked. The wood, steeped in history, is brimming with character, presenting unique and elegant textures that can never be replicated or emulated by newly harvested wood.
Crafted by local Javanese artisans, their coco weaves utilise the sturdy centre of the coconut palm. The processing of this sustainable material is a complex process, and the weaving of the midribs demands a level of precision and perseverance that only experienced artisans can deliver. The palm leaves are cut down, and the midribs are meticulously removed and left to dry. After a careful cleaning process and selection of the finest ones, these slender twigs are intertwined with yarn on a traditional, manually operated loom by their skilled craftsmen.
Harmony with nature is a priority shared by dBodhi and Trit House. dBodhi are constantly searching for methods to lessen the environmental impact of their business activities. This commitment has been the bedrock of their operations since inception. Each purchase from dBodhi is a step towards conscious consumerism, a step towards preserving our planet.
