When designing a space it’s important to consider, location, end use and the experience. For our new flagship store in Hawthorn it was also important to add in a little wow factor. As an important touchstone for the company it needed to reflect our Inspired Living vision and appeal to you, our design loving customers.

Our showroom is an ever evolving space as we bring through new collections, conduct photoshoots and host events. The large two level space gives us a chance to tell the stories behind each brand. The challenge lay in being able to delve into and embody the spirit of the pieces and their designers, while also being a functional store. While walls help to create home like spaces within they can also look cumbersome and block the site lines that allow our talented staff to assist you.

How Dulux Helped Achieve Our Vision

For the design of the space, it was important to have a neutral base to ensure the space remains relevant and easily interchangeable. To add texture and depth to the walls, a rendered finish, Dulux Acratex® Coventry Fine was applied. The texture product is finished with Dulux Grey Pebble; a warm subtle neutral with a red ochre undertone.

Just like there are so many shades of white, there are even more shades of grey. This tone plays off the cherrywood coloured joinery and the warm textures in both of our stunning pebble crete reception desks.

As you venture through the spectacular void to the lower ground the subtlety of our light lilac ceiling doesn’t immediately catch your eye. This tone, Dulux Femininity provides balance and unifies the other architectural elements -like the sandstone wall- at play.

Warmth is an experience that is hard to re-create. Compared to a generic white ceiling, the light lilac tone omits a subtle elegance, and creates are more relaxed and welcoming feel. To share our vision for inspired living one needs to feel at home to envisage the pieces how they would look. Creating inspiring spaces for our customers to live, work & play is our ultimate goal, and this new space certainly helps us to achieve that.
