20 Years of Inspired Living
Twenty years ago, Trit House began with a single collection of furniture and a simple belief: good design should be made to live with. What started as a family-run, hands-on endeavour has grown into a national home for considered furniture and interiors. Everything we do is shaped by craftsmanship, thoughtful curation, and the people who make and live with our pieces.
This milestone is a chance to reflect on the journey — the collaborations, the lessons, and the choices that have defined Trit House — while celebrating the homes, interiors, and communities that continue to inspire us.

From One Collection to a National Presence
The story of Trit House is a story of careful growth. Our first collection set the tone: a commitment to quality, considered materials, and pieces designed to endure. Moving beyond Melbourne, each new showroom became a space to experience design fully — seeing, touching, sitting — and a chance to build meaningful relationships with customers and makers alike.
Every step of the journey has been guided by the same principle: do things the right way, not the fastest way. It’s a philosophy that has shaped our approach to craft, curation, and service, and one that continues to influence how we collaborate with brands and designers today.
The Trit House History

2006 — A Single Container, A Simple Belief
Trit House is established in Melbourne as a curated furniture brand. What began with one online collection has grown slowly and intentionally into the national presence it is today.
2008 — Collingwood: Trit Becomes Tactile
Our first showroom introduced Trit House as a place to experience interiors in person, grounding our online beginnings in a tactile, immersive environment.
2011 — Fitzroy: Foundations & Experiments
A larger industrial space in Fitzroy allowed us to host activations and pop-ups, including a notable collaboration with the Danish brand Sketch (now known as Tolv) in 2016. This period helped us lay the foundations for long-term relationships and multi-brand curation.
2012 — Hello Sydney: Our Rosebery Debut
Opening in Sydney brought new challenges and opportunities to collaborate with editors and brands in a city central to publishing, and design communities.
2015 — James Street Arrival
Trit House expanded interstate, this time to Queensland embedding itself in the design-focused James Street precinct and connecting with a vibrant, growing community.
2017 — Abbotsford: A Polished New Chapter
Relocating from Fitzroy to Abbotsford reflected an evolution in our vision — a polished space that better communicated the experience of thoughtful living.
2018 — Redfern: Raw Character, Bigger Ambitions
Our Sydney showroom moved to Redfern, the space you see today, full of character and lively weekend energy. Expanded in 2021 to accommodate growing collections, it continues to offer a tactile, immersive experience.

2019 — A New Face for Trit
A refreshed Trit House identity launched at Denfair, reflecting our stronger presence, maturing vision, and ongoing commitment to craft and thoughtful curation.
2021 — Brisbane Reframed
Our James Street showroom moved to a larger, more prominent location within Fortitude Valley to better serve the community and showcase our expanding collection.
2022 — Hawthorn: Our Creative Hub
The Hawthorn flagship opened as a 1,600 m² contemporary space designed to inspire. More than a showroom, it’s a hub for workshops, immersive experiences, and curated interiors that bring Trit House’s vision for Inspired Living to life.
2024 — Cremorne: Coastal Calm in Sydney
Our second Sydney showroom opened on the Lower North Shore, offering a contrast to the urban energy of Redfern. The Cremorne space embodies a relaxed, coastal-inspired vibe, inviting visitors to explore curated collections in a more intimate and serene setting.
2025 — A Year of Collaboration
Last year saw a big milestone for Trit with the opening of Australia’s first dedicated Wendelbo showroom in Richmond, Melbourne — a space to present Scandinavian design at full scale.
2026 — A New Shoreline for Trit
As Trit House enters its 20th year, we’re opening a new showroom by the beach, any guesses where?. Alongside this expansion, we continue to refine our digital offering and champion curated, intentional interiors for Australian homes.

Lessons Learned
Two decades in design retail have taught us that the most meaningful work arises from relationships built over time. From collaborations with makers and designers to the customers who live with our pieces, patience and shared values remain central to everything we do.
We’ve learned that thoughtful curation, enduring craftsmanship, and immersive in-store experiences create more lasting connections than chasing trends ever could. These lessons guide the way we grow, partner, and continue shaping interiors across Australia.
