Modernity Meets Warmth: Inside the Home of Artist Tegan Lloyd
Stepping into this home is like entering a private sanctuary where modern aesthetics meet an inviting, family-centred atmosphere. From the start, the vision for the space was to create a space to promote creativity and tranquillity; full of natural light and open spaces that bring the family together.
“We wanted a space that seamlessly blends modern design with warmth, making it a place for both living and creating,” Tegan shares. Our team visited Tegan in her home for a tour and to find out the inspiration behind this beautiful family home.
A Calming Palette with Natural Influences
The foundation of the home is a soft, monochromatic palette of grey and white, balanced by warm walnut timber floors. The neutral tones create a light, airy backdrop for colourful, nature-inspired artwork. “The palette reflects our love of raw materials, like stone and wood, and allows us to bring a sense of the outdoors inside,” she says.
This thoughtful use of colour enhances the home’s soothing, modern atmosphere, while providing the perfect canvas for bold, large-scale art that punctuates the space.

Textures That Engage the Senses
Texture plays a key role in keeping the space visually dynamic and inviting. Soft boucle furniture, plush wool rugs, and gently curved furnishings like the Orsen Table & Emily Chairs, add warmth and comfort to the clean, modern lines. “We’ve added softness through fabrics and curves, and the herringbone flooring adds visual interest and a luxurious feel,” explains Tegan.

Natural elements such as marble, brushed nickel, and oak parquetry floors create a balance between elegance and durability. The materials—chosen not just for their beauty but for their practicality—bring a cohesive feel to the home. “Our goal was to strike a balance between aesthetics and functionality,” she adds.
“Home should be a place where we can truly relax and unwind.”
A Harmonious Connection with Nature
Incorporating nature was essential in the design, achieved through large windows that bathe the home in natural light and offer stunning outdoor views. Materials like stone, wood, and natural textiles create a sense of calm, grounding the space in the beauty of the natural world. In the rumpus room, the Luna Sofa in soft green, matches almost perfectly with Tegan’s works. Flowers scattered throughout the home, combined with constantly revolving nature-inspired artworks, further enhance the indoor-outdoor connection.
“We wanted the design to feel harmonious with the outdoors.”

Curating a Home with Meaning
Furniture and decor choices were guided by a simple principle: only bring in pieces that are both beautiful and loved. Comfort was paramount, ensuring the home would be a sanctuary for unwinding. Among the family’s favourite pieces is a large Hampton Sofa that overlooks the pool—“It’s the perfect spot to relax in the afternoon sun,”.
When it comes to adding art to a space, her advice is to choose pieces that resonate with you. “Art should evoke emotion and reflect your personality,” she says. Supporting local creators and incorporating pieces from friends and fellow artists brings a deeply personal touch to their family home.
A Timeless, Sustainable Approach
While the home incorporates modern elements, there is a clear focus on sustainability and timeless design. Natural materials were a priority, helping to create a space that is not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious. “I tend to avoid trends that might not stand the test of time, preferring designs I’ll love for years to come,” reflects Tegan.
In the end, the result is a harmonious blend of modern style, natural elements, and personal touches, creating a space where family and creativity thrive.
