The Tactile Language of Furniture
There is something powerful about experiencing design in person — seeing how light moves across a surface, feeling the texture of a material and understanding the intention behind every detail.
On the evening of 13 May, we welcomed Melbourne’s design community to Wendelbo’s new Church Street showroom for an immersive experience where quiet luxury met bold materials. Hosted by Style Scout Events, the evening brought together professionals from architecture, interiors, styling and the broader creative industry, united by a shared appreciation for thoughtful design and craftsmanship.
Guests were invited to experience Wendelbo’s collection within a setting designed to reflect the Danish brand’s philosophy — creating furniture and objects that bring beauty, comfort and character to everyday living. Throughout the showroom, sculptural forms, refined craftsmanship and rich materiality created a sense of warmth and discovery, encouraging visitors to engage with each piece beyond its visual appeal.
As guests moved through the space, conversations unfolded around the evolving role of furniture within contemporary interiors. Designers, architects, stylists and industry peers exchanged ideas and perspectives, exploring how considered design can influence the way we live, gather and connect.
A Celebration of Materiality and Craft
At the heart of the evening was a celebration of tactility — the textures, finishes and materials that transform furniture from functional objects into meaningful experiences. From soft upholstery and carefully crafted details to bold silhouettes and timeless forms, the collection demonstrated how furniture can communicate emotion, character and a sense of place.
The showroom provided the perfect backdrop for these conversations. Designed as a destination for design professionals and enthusiasts alike, the space offers an environment where collections can be experienced as intended — through touch, interaction and lived experience.
Craft, Detail and Contemporary Form
More than a showroom event, The Tactile Language of Furniture reflected something we value deeply at Trit House: the role design plays in bringing people together. The most memorable interiors are not simply beautiful; they encourage conversation, connection and shared moments.
As the evening drew to a close, guests lingered over drinks and conversation, continuing discussions inspired by the collections and the ideas behind them. It was a celebration of craftsmanship, creativity and community — and a reminder that the best design is not only seen, but felt.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special evening. We look forward to welcoming you into the showroom and continuing the conversation around design, materiality and modern living.
