Melbourne based artist Antoinette Ferwerda has been brightening walls for years and years, her recently released Gossamer Capsule Collection for Trit House combines many of her unwavering influences such as architecture with new compositions and colours.
A Gossamer refers to a light, thin, and insubstantial or delicate material or substance. As the layers of texture and colour grow the seemingly delicate Gossamer becomes a bold eye-catching work of art. Each piece in the Gossamer series uses the layers and textures to explore various gemstones and the refractions of light cast by their namesake stone.
It is through these expressions of light that we see Ferwerda’s previous architectural influences shine. The use of archways has been prolific in her work through the Hills’ Series combined with techniques and geometric shapes of her earlier Transparency works. In this series imaginary 3-dimensional space shapes emerge and dissolve in constant motion where where colour, line and form are constantly in play.
