Textures are a staple in any successful space in your home, office or workplace. As designers, we use texture to add a sense of comfort and visual interest. These can be used to create a certain feel, look or mood, evoking sensory responses in you and your guests as you experience the space.

Boucle isn’t a new textile either, it’s an old trend that has come back to life in recent years and girl, what-a-comeback. Reoccurring trends is something that has become a habit in modern society, they feel familiar, they evoke emotion and they bridge the gap between old and new. As designers calling on the past is a great way to add layers to a design and boucle is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to inspiration
Originating in the 1940’s by Architect Florence Knoll and designer Eero Saarinen, this classic texture is of a ‘nubby’ textile made from a yarn of ‘curled fibres’. Typically made from a series of lopped fibres, wool being the most common. Though cotton, linen and silk have also been used to achieve this distinct texture.
