A New Chapter: Wendelbo Arrives in Richmond

On 5th September, we open the doors to Australia’s first dedicated Wendelbo showroom, a space devoted entirely to the modern elegance and refined craftsmanship that has defined the Danish brand for over 70 years. For Trit House, it’s a moment to reflect on where this journey began and where it is headed.

From Aarhus to Australia

Founded in 1955 as a small upholstery workshop in Aarhus, Wendelbo has always been guided by an obsession with material, proportion and lasting craft. That focus has carried the brand across generations and borders — and into homes and projects around the world.

In 2012 Trit House introduced Wendelbo to Australia, and what began as a careful introduction quickly became a partnership rooted in mutual respect for considered design. For more than a decade Australians have welcomed Wendelbo’s calm, sculptural language into their interiors. The opening of this showroom celebrates the collection in its fullest form.

Scandinavian design has always found a natural home in Australia. Both cultures value light, simplicity, and connection to nature — qualities that Wendelbo’s collections capture beautifully. Their pieces bring an understated elegance into Australian spaces, while offering modularity and craftsmanship that respond to the way we truly live.

From neutral palettes to bold accents, Wendelbo has embraced colour and texture in recent years, showing just how versatile Danish design can be in the Australian context.

The Evolution of Wendelbo

Wendelbo’s growth has been steady and ambitious. Since 2020, under the leadership of Christian Ernemann as CEO, the company has gained renewed momentum: deeper international reach, fresh collaborations with leading designers and a clearer voice in both residential and commercial markets. At the same time, the brand’s founders remain a guiding presence, ensuring that new directions remain faithful to a legacy of craft. For Trit House, it’s been a privilege to grow with a partner whose trajectory mirrors our own commitment to design that endures.

Reflections — Seventy Years of Craft

To mark seven decades of work, Wendelbo presented Reflections at 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen, a show that both honours the brand’s history and points to the future. We’re bringing that same spirit to Richmond: an exhibitional approach that celebrates lineage, process and the quiet evolution of form. Reflections is as much about looking back as it is about continuing to ask new design questions.

A Landmark Showroom

The new Richmond showroom marks a defining moment for Wendelbo in Australia. Unlike traditional retail spaces, the design is intentionally pared back — a blank canvas that allows each piece to breathe and be appreciated in its own right. Inspired by Wendelbo’s Copenhagen flagship, the space combines restraint with warmth, reflecting the brand’s evolution and future direction.

Visitors will be able to experience a wide breadth of the collection in one place for the very first time in Australia. It’s a place not just to shop, but to immerse yourself in the world of Wendelbo, its heritage, design philosophy, and quiet sense of confidence.

Looking Ahead

As we prepare to welcome guests on 5th September, this showroom feels like both a celebration and a beginning. It reflects our ongoing commitment to bringing the best of global design to Australia, and to creating spaces where craft, community, and culture converge.

For Trit House, it’s more than a showroom — it’s a continuation of a story we’re proud to tell. This is the next chapter in a conversation that began years ago: a place to sit, touch, compare and imagine. Seeing a large range of pieces together, each with generous breathing room, allows the design to reveal itself in ways photographs cannot.
